According to the Instruction of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the journal is a part of the List of scientific issues where the results of theses for Doctor’s (Dr.) and Candidate’s (Ph. D.) degree in History can be published (Instruction of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of 21 November 2013 No. 1609; According to the Instruction of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of 15 January 2018 No. 32 this will be continud until 13 March 2020 with the category “B” award).
History of the journal: It was initiated in 1925 by the Ethnographic Commission of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences as Ethnographic Bulletin (1925-1932), Ukrainian Folklore (1937-39), and then by "Folk Art" (1939-1941). From 1957 to 2010 (inclusive) – "Folk art and ethnography", since 2011 the journal has been registered under the name "Folk art and ethnology".
Scope: Folk Art and Ethnology highlights the issues relating to the history and theory of ethnology, folklore and art studies. It also covers surveys and materials, field investigations, chronicles, critical and bibliographic reviews of new editions where the achievements in cultural anthropology of Ukrainians and other peoples of the world are displayed. The journal contains illustrated material.
