The Impact of Globalization and Modern Trends in World Art
on the Culture of the Chernihiv Region
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the analysis of the impact of contemporary global art trends on the cultural development of the Chernihiv region in the context of globalization and intensified intercultural communications. The article is aimed at the identifying the main contemporary global art trends those have been already present in the cultural life of the Chernihiv region, how they influence the local artists, cultural institutions and the public audience and what prospects are caused by these phenomena. The analysis of recent research by Ukrainian and international scholars demonstrates sustained academic interest in contemporary global art trends and their impact on local cultural systems. The theoretical principles of the modern art are considered in the study, the essence and key characteristics of current artistic trends, such as digital art, performance, installation, street art, and NFT art, are outlined and the influence of mass culture, media and digital technologies in shaping contemporary artistic processes are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the influence of global art events on the formation of new values and artistic tendencies. The historical and cultural heritage and modern cultural infrastructure of the Chernihiv region is characterized, and the participation of the local artists in national and international art projects is analyzed. The peculiarities of penetration of contemporary artistic practices into the regional context, the use of innovative technologies in cultural events and the transformation of art education under the influence of global trends are described in the article. Special emphasis is placed on the processes of the synthesis of traditional and contemporary forms of art assisting the reinterpretation of local cultural codes. The social and cultural consequences of these processes are summarized, including changes in audience perception, the formation of new artistic communities and increased tourist attractiveness of the region, and existing challenges connected with commercialization and the risks of loss of authenticity are also outlined. It is concluded on the significant potential of contemporary art as a factor in the cultural development of the Chernihiv region and the importance of maintaining a balance between global artistic trends and local cultural originality.
