Folk songs of Beresteyshchyna

 

Abstract

Methodwise, selected folk songs from Beresteyshchyna (now – Brest Region, Republic of Belarus) is an example of experimentation within musical ethnography. Firstly, presented are records of more than half a century, the fact being of historical and theoretical interest by itself. K. Kvitka wrote them down in 1920, and M. Pylypchak – in 1986. Secondly, the publication is annotated by K. Kvitka, O. Horbachuk (to the point, a native of Beresteyshchyna), and A. Ivanytskyi.
